Happy New Year!
When I look back on 2021, I feel humble and full of gratitude for what this year brought. Don’t get me wrong, we had a lot of challenging times, but I feel more than anything it has only made us stronger.
The COVID pandemic blessed our industry and really attracted new people to our sport. It was great seeing dealers set record-high sales for new machines. It also helped reignite a love for off-roading, as a lot of people had machines kicking around in their garages that hadn’t been touched in years. I love seeing people find a passion for this sport, and it’s exciting to be a part of this industry.
I know 2021 would not have been possible if it wasn’t for my staff. Our staff continues to step up to the plate and continues to tackle every challenge head-on. I am beyond grateful for our staff and the team we have built. I am so excited for what the future brings for our company and all our staff.
Over the past year, we at UTV Canada have focused on growth. We have invested in onboarding new brands, new products, technology, expanding our warehouse, and slowly diversifying our business.
New Brands
This year, we onboarded Quad Logic, Pedal Commander, and ZBroz Racing. Each one of these brands brings something unique to our product offerings!
Quadlogic specializes in unique tools such as wheel bearing installers, water pump rebuild kits for older RZR’s, and other unique products.
Pedal commander gives drivers full control of their gas pedal sensitivity. With 36 preset levels, the Pedal Commander has a setting for every riding style. You can customize your vehicle to give you the exact response you want. What is awesome about this product is that it’s a fairly universal product with only two SKUs covering most Polaris and Can-Am ATV/UTV’s.
Finally this year, we decided to diversify UTV Canada and get more involved in other segments of the Powersports industry. In the fall we onboarded Z-Broz Racing, which makes high-performance snowmobile suspension products including A-Arms, EXIT Shocks, and much more! This is the first step in diversifying our product offerings, and it’s extremely exciting to step into other parts of the Powersports industry.
We are continuing to develop the Rogue and NXT brands, expanding into new product offerings, with the goal of offering high-quality parts & accessories at unbeatable prices. Some of my favourites are the RZR lower doors, plastic and aluminium roofs, and don’t get me started on the winch rope.
New Projects & New Technology
In 2021 we invested in a lot of key projects to help serve you more effectively.
One of the major projects we invested in was purchasing a second warehouse location. We knew about the challenges that we were going to be faced with early on, so we decided to be proactive in overcoming them. Having this additional warehouse, allowed us to stock more inventory, and most importantly turn around orders quicker to our customers. This investment speaks to our dedication to having the correct levels of inventory at all times to help our dealers be successful.
We invested in a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, to allow our staff to operate more efficiently when assisting customers to find parts & accessories. We want to be able to turn around all your inquiries as quickly as possible, and in order to do that, it means giving our staff all the tools necessary.
We invested in a cloud-based multi-carrier shipping platform, to allow our warehouse to ship products more efficiently. Our processes used to be very hands-on and manual, now we are moving towards automating the entire process creating more efficiencies. We now have the capacity to ship more orders in a day, and ultimately help customers that little bit faster. This will also help us control costs, so we don’t have to continue increasing shipping rates. This shipping technology allows us to quote, ship and print all the carrier labels in a matter of seconds.
These investments are going to allow our company to stock more inventory, help you find the parts & accessories quicker, and ultimately get it on your front steps that much faster.
Looking Forward
I would be remiss not to say that 2022 is going to pull some punches. We are being faced with price increases, raw material, and labour shortages from our suppliers. I can promise that the UTV Canada team is working very hard in the background to minimize all of these issues, as much as possible. We are excited to add to our team, and continue to build onto our company culture.
In the meantime, I ask for all of our customers to plan ahead and be kind. It is a rough world out there, but keep in mind with challenges, an opportunity is not far behind.
